Photography - Photo Gallery
There are 2 distinct types of photographers. The first type of photographer needs all the lighting, structure and placement to be perfect before his shutter will function correctly. Well that is not me. My photography skills involve the moment. There is nothing more that can explain the moment better than a candid shot.
Candid photography is best described as un-posed and unplanned, immediate and unobtrusive. This is in contrast to classic photography, which includes aspects such as carefully staged portrait photography, landscape photography or object photography. Candid photography catches moments of life from immersion in it.
The photographer in a Candid session is there with the "subjects" to be photographed, close, and not hidden. People photographed on candid shots either ignore or accept the close presence of the photographer's camera without posing. Though if the subject were to pose the subject would have to focus through the lens to act as if they where staring into space.
The events documented are often private, they involve people in close relation to something they do, or they involve people's relation to each other. Candid's are the kinds of pictures taken at children's birthday parties and on Christmas morning, opening the presents; the pictures a wedding photographer takes at the reception, of people dancing, eating, and socializing with other guests.
I guess I got into candid photography once enrolling into design school. With having a background in design I can turn normal candid photographs into works of art. Pictures that may seem dull and lack luster can be turned into stunning samples of modern art. Examples of this would be a normal photograph of a boat on the ocean. The normal picture would not draw any attention sitting alone. But with use of layers and brushes the picture can be made to come alive.
So if there is a special place you have in mind that you want some candid photographs taken give me a call to discuss they many options available. We live in a photographers paradise. Rhode Island and New England at that have some of the most spectacular landscapes available for candid photography.
